Comments availability

Comments are available:

  • On our Android and iOS application for users based in France, Belgium, Switzerland and the US
  • On dailymotion.com for users based in France and the US

Comments will be available in more countries in the coming months.

You can share your opinions, debate and discuss with other users by using the comments section available on the videos uploaded on Dailymotion.

This article will give you more insights about the comments and how to get started.

Prerequisites

To comment on Dailymotion, you'll have to:

  • Validate your account - Your Dailymotion account must be validated via the code received by email. If you don't have a Dailymotion account yet, we invite you to read our dedicated article.

  • Create your username - The username will be the name displayed next to your comments. You must create one before posting your comments on Dailymotion. Learn more about username creation.

 

Post a comment

To post your comment, proceed as follows:

Web

  1. Open a video on Dailymotion.com and scroll down to access the Comments section
  2. Click on the comment box: type your comment and click Send

That's it! Your comment has been posted.

Note that all the comments posted on Dailymotion videos are visible for the other users.

iOS / Android app

  1. Open your Dailymotion app
  2. On the video you want to comment, click on the Comments icon comments icon , or on the video title to access the comments section
  3. Click on the + icon at the bottom to write a Comment
  4. Type your comment and post it

That's it! Your comment has been posted.

Note that all the comments posted on Dailymotion videos are visible for the other users.

 

Like a comment

You can like comments posted by other users to show them that you've appreciated their post. Users will see the amount of likes each comments have received, but they won't know who liked the content.

To like a comment, you must proceed as follows:

Web

  1. Open a video on Dailymotion.com and scroll down to access the comments section
  2. Click on the heart icon icon to like a comment located under the comment you would like to like

iOS / Android app

It is currently not possible to like comments on the iOS and Android mobile app

 

Reply to a comment

You can engage with other users and continue a side conversation with them by replying to comments.

To reply to a comment, you must proceed as follows:

Web

  1. Open a video on Dailymotion.com, and scroll down to access the comments section
  2. Click on Reply located under the comment you would like to reply to
  3. Type your comment and press Comment

iOS / Android app

It is currently not possible to reply to comments in the iOS and Android mobile app

 

Modify a comment

You can modify a comment you've posted if you would like to add additional information or correct something.

To modify your comment, please proceed as follows:

Web

  1. Open a video you commented on Dailymotion.com, and scroll down to access the comments section
  2. Click on the 3-dot menu next to the comment you would like to modify
  3. Click on Edit
  4. Type your comment and press Comment

iOS / Android app

It is currently not possible to edit a comment on the iOS and Android mobile app

Good to know

Edited comments are marked with a (Modified) mention displayed at the end, allowing users to know that the comment has been modified by the author.

 

Delete a comment

You can delete a comment you've posted if you think this comment doesn't reflect your opinion anymore.

To delete your comment, please proceed as follows:

Web

  1. Open a video you commented on Dailymotion.com, and scroll down to access the comments section
  2. Click on the 3-dot menu next to the comment you would like to remove
  3. Click on Delete
  4. Confirm the deletion by clicking on Delete on the alert window displayed

iOS / Android app

  1. From your Dailymotion app, open a video you commented
  2. Click on the Comments icon comments icon , or on the video title to access the comments section
  3. Click on the 3-dot menu next to the comment you would like to remove
  4. Click on Delete

Replies on deleted comments

If you delete a comment which received replies from other users, your original comment will be removed, but the replies will remain accessible on the platform.

Therefore, your original comment will be replaced by a message letting other users knows that your message has been deleted. 

 

Report a comment

As a member of the Dailymotion community, you can report a comment which you may consider as inappropriate. Reporting a comment is anonymous, the original author won't be able to know who's reported the comment.

To report a content, you will have to:

Web

  1. Click on the 3-dot menu next to the comment you would like to report
  2. Click on Report
  3. Using the form that appeared, select the reason why you are reporting this comment
  4. Click Submit

Dailymotion's moderation team will be notified of the report and deliberate.

iOS / Android app

  1. Click on the 3-dot menu next to the comment you would like to report
  2. Click on Report
  3. Confirm the report by clicking on Confirm on the alert window displayed

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I list the comments I've posted on Dailymotion?

This option isn't available for the moment, but we are working on it. Feel free to contact us to share your insights and ideas.

Can I customize my avatar?

Your avatar is displayed next to your comments. You can customize it easily from your Android and iOS mobile app or directly via your Dailymotion Studio.
