Dailymotion monitors and tracks the inventory health of your account across multiple categories and aggregates this information in a single easy to use dashboard.
In this article you will learn how to get more information about your inventory, get familiar with the categories, and how to leverage your inventory.
Your Monetization insights dashboard
This dashboard allows you to quickly identify the following information:
- Time & channel filters - You can filter the dashboard for a selected period of time and/or for a selected channel within your organization
-
Your inventory categories - Each category has a label depending on the score performed by your inventory. Each category can be expanded to get more details.
Get familiar with the inventory categories
An inventory is an ad opportunity generated on your content or on a digital property (website, app etc) associated with your account.
An inventory is considered optimized when it meets all of the following conditions:
- Viewability - It has high viewability on the player embedded on your digital property
- Ads.txt - It is generated on a property with its ads.txt file containing all of the Dailymotion required advertising demand sources
- VTR (View-Through-Rate) - It is generated when a user has watched a full ad
- Brand Safety - It is generated on brand safe content
- Monetizability - It is not created on content, channel or property that has monetization turned off
- GDPR Consent rate - It is generated when a user gave their full consent for the processing of their personal data
- Valid traffic - It is created by a real user with genuine interest and not bot traffic
An inventory is considered non-optimized when it does not meet any of these conditions.
Understand the optimal score
Each category has a recommended optimal score which is the minimum score necessary to consider your inventory optimized and achieve high monetization.
Depending on the score performed by your inventory compared to the recommended optimal score, you'll be able to easily know if you are On Track or Underperforming.
- On Track - Your inventory is above the recommended optimal score for that category.
- Underperforming - Your inventory is under the recommended optimal score for that category
For example:
- The recommended optimal score for Viewability category is 80%
- If your inventory viewability score is 70%
- Your account will be Underperforming in this category
Act upon my inventory performance
By clicking on each category, you will be able to get more information on your performance and tips to improve your score.
On each section you'll be able to find:
-
A performance table, to quickly identify the top 3 domains / reasons impacting your inventory for the selected category
-
An optimization guide, to quickly identify a potential solution to improve your catalog / player implementation
- A full report button, to download a complete report for the selected category. Each report will list the domains / content having a negative impact on the category, and the reason why.

Viewability
Viewability measures if your Player is sufficiently visible to your audience while an ad is being played.
Dailymotion uses third party measurement solutions to get viewability data at an ad impression level and receives these data from any embedded Dailymotion Player on the digital property.
Measured ad impressions are categorized as having high viewability or low viewability:
- High viewability: measured ad impressions with at least 50% of the pixels in user's viewport for at least 2 consecutive seconds
- Low viewability: measured ad impressions that do not meet the above criteria
Note that viewability is measured on sampled sets of impressions and not on all ad impressions.
How is it calculated?
Viewability score is the share of all sampled impressions that have high viewability.
For example, out of 1000 sampled impressions from all your embeds across all your properties:
- If 750 have high viewability
- And 250 have low viewability
- Your viewability score is 75% (750/1000)
Note: The score calculated using this data may be different from overall average viewability score of the digital property.
Example: if a domain is using multiple player technologies, overall average viewability score of the domain may be different from the viewability score calculated on just Dailymotion player embeds.
The score can vary significantly depending on the implementation and behavior of each player embed.
You can download the full report to get a more granular breakdown of high vs low viewability impressions at a page level which can help isolate and identify root cause while investigating viewability issues.
Ads.txt
In order to maximize monetization on your digital properties, it is important to add in your Ads.txt file all the required lines of Dailymotion's Authorized Digital Sellers.
Learn more about the Ads.txt initiative and how to implement & manage your Ads.txt file.
How is it calculated?
Ads.txt score is the share of the total inventory generated on your domains that have all the Dailymotion's required lines in their Ads.txt file.
For example, if the embeds across your domains generate 1000 inventories:
- If 700 are generated on domains that have all the Dailymotion's required lines in their Ads.txt
- And 300 are generated on domains that are missing some of the Dailymotion required lines in their Ads.txt
- Your Ads.txt score is 70% (700/1000)
You can download a full report to get more granular breakdown at a domain level to help investigate your Ads.txt integrations.
VTR
View Through Rate (VTR) shows user engagement on ads by measuring the percentage of users who watched a full ad without clicking the "Skip" button.
How is it calculated?
The VTR score shows the share of users who watched the full ad without clicking the "Skip" button.
For example, out of 1000 ad impressions generated on your domains:
- If 700 are from users who watched the full ad without clicking the "Skip" button
- And 300 are from users who didn't watch the full ad (they either skipped the ad or closed the tab while the ad was playing)
- Your VTR score will be 70% (700/1000)
You can download a full report with details about visitors and Players at domain level to help you investigate any VTR issues.
Brand safety
Brand safety measures how safe your content is considered for advertisers and their brand image.
This section also shows a list of the top reasons by total inventory that contribute to non brand safe inventory.
How is it calculated?
Brand safety score is the share of your total inventory that is considered brand safe. For example, out of 1000 total inventory generated on all of your content
- If 700 are generated on brand safe content
- And 300 are generated on non brand safe content
- Your brand safety score is 70% (700/1000)
You can download a full report to get more granular breakdown at a content level to help investigate brand safety issues.
Monetizability
Monetizability monitors that your content is correctly configured to always be available for monetization.
For example, if ads are accidentally turned off on a video, inventory generated on this video will be marked as non-monetizable and show up under this category.
How is it calculated?
Monetizability score is the share of your inventory that can be monetized.
For example, out of 1000 total inventory generated on all of your content:
- If 850 is monetizable
- And 150 is not monetizable
- Your monetization score is 85% (850/1000)
You can download a full report to get more granular breakdown at a content level to help investigate monetizability issues.
GDPR Consent Rate
GDPR Consent Rate monitors if users watching ads on your domains are allowing you to process their personal data.
The Dailymotion Player is compliant with IAB TCF standards and automatically detects any TCF-certified CMP, making it possible to collect user preferences on consent.
How is it calculated?
The GDPR Consent Rate score shows the share of users who granted their full consent for the processing of their personal data.
For example, out of 1000 ad impressions generated on your domains:
- If 800 are from users who granted their full consent
- 150 are from users who refused to grant their consent
- 50 are from users who didn't choose any consent option
- Your GDPR Consent Rate score will be 80% (800/1000)
To calculate this score, we only take into account ad impressions generated by users from countries regulated by GDPR rules.
You can download a full report detailing the consent status (including full/empty/refused consent) collected from users at a domain level to help you investigate issues with the GDPR Consent Rate.
Valid traffic
Valid traffic represents traffic that comes from a real user with genuine interest. Invalid traffic (IVT) represents traffic generated by bots or non-human traffic.
Dailymotion uses third party measurement solutions to get IVT data at an ad impression level.
Note that IVT is measured on sampled set of impressions and not on all of the impressions.
How is it calculated?
Valid traffic score is the share of all sampled impressions that have valid traffic.
For example, out of 1000 sampled impressions from all your embeds across all your properties:
- If 900 have valid traffic
- And 100 have invalid traffic
- Your valid traffic score is 90% (900/1000)
You can download the full report to get a more granular breakdown of valid vs invalid impressions at a page level which can help isolate and identify root cause while investigating IVT issues.
