By default, when you're creating a dynamic playlist, the 10 most recent videos of your account will be automatically added to your playlist.
Each time a new video is uploaded on your account, the most recent one will replace the oldest one, unless you change the video limit of your playlist.
Dynamic Playlists allow you as well to set smart filters so that only videos matching these filters are added to your playlist. Learn more about the smart filters below.
Automatically add videos to a dynamic playlist based on smart filters
- When creating a dynamic playlist, click on Add filters
- Select the type of metadata you want to use to populate your playlist in the Select filter dropdown
- Once selected, click on Add filter and specify the rule (you can add multiple filters to one playlist)
- You can preview the that will be added to your playlist (use the refresh button to display last videos matching your smart filters)
- Click on Create to let the magic happens!
Existing videos and new videos matching all these rules will be automatically added to your playlist.
Please note that only the videos uploaded in your account will be added automatically to your playlist and that you can’t add or remove video manually from your playlist once set up.
About dynamic smart filters
You can define up to 10 tags for a playlist, which will include videos that have at least one or all those tags
If you don't enter an upload date, all matching videos from your channel (previously uploaded and future videos) will be added to your playlist.
If you enter a start and/or end date, only matching videos uploaded during that date range will be added to the playlist
You can define the length of video you want to add to your playlist.
You can define up to 10 categories for a playlist, and the playlist will include the videos from all the categories listed.
You can define up to 10 languages for a playlist, and the playlist will include the videos in all the languages listed.
Playlist behaviour in case of filters & metadata modification
Editing a video with matching metadata to your playlist rules will add the video to your playlist automatically.
Removing or updating metadata on your videos will remove the videos from your playlist if they don’t match anymore the smart filters set for the playlist.
