More details about the IAB specifications
VAST (Video Ad Serving Template) |
Universal ad serving specification developed by IAB. It defines the interface for communication between the video player and ad server, enabling the server to pass information to the video player. For example, it passes the location of the ad on the server, how long to run it, the click URL, and the path for the tracking pixel. VAST is lightweight and supports simple in-stream video ad formats that are not executable. |
OMID |
Standard introduced by IAB for verification in the VAST 4 model of separated media and executable files. OMID has been designed from the ground up to support the needs of verification efficiently, while providing a high level of flexibility and transparency. |
SIMID (Secure Interactive Media Interface Definition) |
Standard for interactive ads introduced by IAB tech lab to replace VPAID. SIMID is secure, transparent, faster and easier to debug. The biggest advantage with SIMID is that playback control remains with the player. |
VPAID (Video Player Ad Interface) |
Universal ad serving specification developed by IAB. It offers an API that enables interactive communication between the video player and ad server. For example, VPAID allows you to track interactivity and measure performance such as viewability, completion rate, and click-through rate. The downside to using VPAID is that it can slow down publisher sites. More information on IAB tech lab ImportantThe Dailymotion Player supports VPAID, but we do not recommend using this format as it is being deprecated, and can slow down publisher site and generate errors. As an alternative, we recommend using SIMID and/or OMID. |
