What are overages?
Overages happen when you use more transcoding, bandwidth and/or storage than what your plan includes: in this case, you may be charged additional overage fees. Learn more about overage fees.
Note
Overages can only occur on Advanced & Enterprise plans, as Starter plans have capped usage and cannot go beyond their usage limits.
How overages appear in your Studio
Overages are displayed in your Dailymotion Studio under Organization settings > Subscription plan > Current usage.
The usage for each resource (transcoding, bandwidth and storage) is indicated with a percentage. When one (or more) of these metrics exceeds 100%, it means that more data than what was included in your subscription has been consumed, resulting in an overage.
You can click on each metric to view your usage in detail and select the appropriate date range. See how to track your subscription usage.
Warning
Data in "Current usage" dashboard is not updated in real-time: it is refreshed once a day at 3:45 pm (UTC), with a 24-hour latency.
Additionally, when navigating anywhere else in the Studio, a square banner appears in the bottom left corner, notifying about the overage and advising adjusting your plan.
How overages appear on invoices
Overages are listed as separate items on your invoices: quantity for the exceeded metric as well as the associated cost are detailed.
Prevent overage
You can avoid unexpected overages by following these recommendations:
-
Monitor your current usage within your Studio on a regular basis.
Important: Data displayed in your Studio is refreshed once a day, with a 24-hour latency. So if you uploaded a video just now, you'll see how it impacts your subscription 24 hours later. - If you frequently exceed your limits, consider adjusting your plan limits: transcoding, bandwidth and storage limits can be adjusted independently, and this will be cheaper than overage fees.
Good to know
- Bandwidth and transcoding reset at the start of each new billing period: If you've already reached your limit, wait for the next billing period to start fresh again.
- Storage doesn’t reset: To reduce your storage usage, you will need to delete content from your account.
