The content defaults page allows you to preset default values for your uploaded videos.

 

 

Why should you define content defaults?

Your content defaults page simplifies the video upload process. Here are a few reasons why you should define default values for your content:

  • Time-saving - Let the content defaults handle your recurring values. For instance, if you're managing a cooking channel, all new videos can automatically fall under the "Cooking" category without any extra effort.

  • Consistency - Content defaults help ensure video details and metadata are consistent by including the correct tags, or keeping a branded format for your titles and descriptions

  • Avoid mistakes - New videos can automatically be set as private, preventing accidental public releases

  • Flexibility - Easily adjust any default value on a case-by-case basis from the video edit page and keep control over each individual upload

 

 

Manage your content defaults

You can manage your content defaults and define your presets following these steps:

  1. From your Dailymotion Studio, go to Channel > Content defaults
  2. Define presets as you need:
    • Choose the default values for future uploaded videos
    • If you are a Pro user with the feature "Domain and app restrictions" included in your plan, you can set here the default audience for both new and existing content
    • Note: You will still be able to edit any default value when uploading videos
  3. Click Save

Once you've defined your content defaults, your uploaded videos will automatically be assigned with your chosen default values. Learn more about how to upload videos from your Dailymotion Studio.


Overview

Here is an overview of the content information you can preset in your content defaults page. Please note that some of the fields are only accessible to Partners and Advanced Partners as mentioned below.


Default details for new content

These default values will only apply to new content uploaded on your channel.

Define the title that will be assigned by default to new videos
Max: 255 characters

Define the description that will be assigned by default to new videos.
You can include recurring links and information about your videos.

Define the tags that will be assigned by default to new videos

Define the category that will be assigned by default to new videos.
Note: You can select "None" and manually define it for each video.

Define if your video privacy should be set as public or private by default.
Note: "Password protected" privacy is only available from the video edit page, for Partners and Advanced

Default audience for all content

This section is only visible to Pro users with the feature "Domain and app restrictions" included in their plan.

These default values will change the audience settings for both new and existing videos:

Domain & App restrictions
Define restrictions at the channel level allowing/preventing websites and apps from playing your videos.

It can be overridden for specific content at the video level.

FAQ

Do content defaults apply on live streams and podcasts?

"Default details" apply to videos only

"Default audience" apply to videos and live streams

Is my already uploaded content impacted?

Presets included in the "Default details" section (see above) apply to new videos uploaded after you configured your "Content defaults" page.

Presets included in the "Default audience" section can apply to both new and existing videos and live streams if the content settings are set to "inherit rules from channel".
