Add and manage subtitles

Your Dailymotion Studio lets you handle 2 types of subtitles for your videos:

• Manually added subtitles: These are subtitles that you can manually add from your Dailymotion Studio in multiple languages.
• Autogenerated subtitles: These are AI-generated subtitles, automatically created by Dailymotion on eligible videos based on the video language you specified. Dailymotion provides 1 set of autogenerated subtitles per video. 

In this article, we'll introduce you to the "Subtitles" section in your Dailymotion Studio, where you can manage both manual and autogenerated subtitles for each of your videos.

Please note that certain actions within the Subtitles section may not be available to all account types.

Add subtitles to a video

1. From your Dailymotion Studio, go in Media > Videos and click on the video of your choice
2. In the menu, go to Subtitles and click Add subtitles
   
3. Choose your subtitles language in the dropdown menu. If subtitles in a specific language have already been added to the video, this language option will be disabled from the dropdown menu.
   
4. Choose a .srt file from your computer

The newly added subtitles will be available in the list of subtitles for this video. You can view, edit, download or delete them as needed following the instructions in the sections below.

Manage your manually added subtitles

You can edit the manually added subtitles to ensure speech accuracy and perfect timing:

1. From your Dailymotion Studio, navigate to Media > Videos and click on the video of your choice
2. In the menu, go to Subtitles
3. Find the subtitles you want to modify and click the Edit button located on the right
4. Make the necessary edits, then click Save to apply your changes

Manage your autogenerated subtitles

Dailymotion provides AI-generated subtitles to eligible videos.

To view them:

1. From your Dailymotion Studio, navigate to Media > Videos and click on the video of your choice
2. In the menu, go to Subtitles
3. Find the AI-generated subtitles and click the View button on the right. This option enables you to see the subtitles in sync with your video. You can even click a line and the Player will go to the timeframe selected.

The autogenerated file is read-only. To make an editable copy, you can duplicate the file, and it will be saved as manually added subtitles.

There are 2 ways to duplicate AI-generated subtitles:

• You can click on the menu located on the right of the AI-generated subtitles and select Duplicate.
• Or, if you are already reviewing the AI-generated subtitles, you can click on the Duplicate button at the bottom right of the window.

Download subtitles

The download option allows you to easily download subtitles as an .srt or .txt file to facilitate editing and re-using your subtitles for other platforms and purposes.

To access the download option:

1. From your Dailymotion Studio, go in Media > Videos and click on the video of your choice
2. In the menu, go to Subtitles
3. Click on the menu   on the right of the subtitles of your choice and select Download
4. Choose if you want to download the subtitle file in an .srt or .txt format, then click the Download button

Delete subtitles

You can choose to remove any subtitle from your videos:

1. From your Dailymotion Studio, go in Media > Videos and click on the video of your choice
2. In the menu, go to Subtitles
3. Click on the menu   on the right of the subtitles of your choice and select Delete
4. Confirm your wish to delete this subtitle by clicking the Delete button on the popup window
