What are hashtags?

Hashtags are a list of words identified with a # symbol than can be added to your video in order to:

  • Categorize your content - Users can click on a hashtag to access a dedicated feed and browse new content sharing the same hashtag

  • Provide additional insights on the video content - Through your hashtags, your audience can identify some elements that are available in the content they are about to watch

  • Improve your visibility - In a near future, users will also be able to search for a specific hashtag and easily find our different hashtag feeds

Hashtags in Dailymotion Studio

Hashtags are not yet available in the Dailymotion Studio:

  • If you are a standard Partner, you can manage your hashtags on your content by using the Dailymotion mobile app

  • If you are an advanced Partner, it isn't possible yet to add hashtags on your content

This feature will be available in the coming weeks on your Dailymotion Studio

 

Create hashtags on your new content

  1. Open your Dailymotion app and log into your Dailymotion account
  2. Click on the + button in the app menu
  3. Select a file or record your content and upload it
  4. During the upload, define your hashtags in the dedicated field
  5. Click Post

That's it, your hashtag is added to your newly uploaded content.

You can edit them whenever you want from your Library (read the section below Manage hashtags on already uploaded content for more information)

 

Manage hashtags on your existing content

  1. Open your Dailymotion app and log into your Dailymotion account
  2. Click on Profile profile at the bottom right 
  3. Depending on your content being public or private, follow the dedicated steps below:

If your content is public

  1. Tap on the  menu  menu on the video you want to edit
  2. Tap the Edit option
  3. Add / remove hashtags in the dedicated field
  4. Click Save your video

If your content is private

  1. Click on the menu menu at the top right corner of your Profile
  2. Click on Private videos
  3. Tap on the  menu  menu on the right of the video you want to edit
  4. Tap the Edit option
  5. Add / remove hashtags in the dedicated field
  6. Click Save your video

 

Hashtag specifications

Length Your hashtag must be at least 2 characters and maximum 25-character long
Spaces

Every space input will create a new hashtag. Therefore, you cannot use spaces within a hashtag.
Special characters & numbers

Your hashtag can't include special characters, however numbers are allowed.
Case sensitivity All hashtags are considered as written in lowercase, which means that #Yellow and #yellow will be considered as being the same hashtag.
Limit You can define up to 15 hashtags on your content, but only the first 3 hashtags will be displayed on the feeds.
